Music there is a lot..... none you would like, hopefully you would. maybe clay would, i dunno: placebo, nin, sage francis, aesop rock, pink floyd, the beatles, clann zu, the rat pack, vast, louis armstrong, the crystal method, the frames, marilyn manson, saul williams, miles davis, Johann Pachelbel, vivaldi, muse, neutral milk hotel, the decemberists, smashing pumpkins, rage against the machine, death from above1979, orgy, static x.... theres a lot more.... it depends on my mood at the time.
Movies black and white ones, silent films.... and color ones have become more thought provoking. Though my favorite movie (at this time) is Me and You and Everyone We Know. Some others are Gattaca, Waking Life, the Matrix, Little Children, Run Lola Run, Amelie, We don't live here any more, ANYTHING from Darren Aronofsky, Magnolia, Crash, Equilibrium, a Scanner Darkly, Alice in Wonderland, Once. As with the category for music, my list could go on.
TV Seinfeld, the Office. i don't enjoy television. just select sitcoms.
Books Alice in Wonderland, Andromeda, Things Fall Apart, Jurrassic Park, Into the Wild, Prince Caspian.... for the fiction section (which isn't much) I seem to find myself diving into non-fiction: An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, the Prince, No exit, Being and Time, the Consolation of Philosophy, the Death of Ivan Ilyich, Master and Man..... more and more and more non fiction

The better "look" for a musical

Saturday, April 26, 2008, 04:31 AM EST [General]

“Once”.  One of the newest musicals to hit the big screen.  Glen Hansard from “the Frames” (an Indie Rock band based out of Dublin Ireland) stars as "the guy" in a delectable composition of steady acting and mind blowing music. Throughout the career of musicals many are aware of the sporadic song and dance including a happy go lucky clicking of heals..... “Once” surpasses the Mary Poppins attitude and exemplifies: musicals are about music. Hansard and Markéta Irglovás preform multiple tracks from their newest musical release: The Swell Season. Just a guy and a girl who have similar musical interests, living in a slow moving life wanting something better, get together to make their own CD. The simplicity of the storyline is ever so enticing. But be prepared to be amazed by a sound that will find its way into your head and settle.

Me and you and the fact this is an awesome movie..

Saturday, April 26, 2008, 04:08 AM EST [General]

So I watched a movie the other day entitled: You and Me and Everyone we Know.  Probably the best movie I have watched in a long time.  It comes across as a concept film.  Prolly not the best viewing material for children though.... just in case anyone has 'em that would take my advice on watching it.  The opening scene is a huge attention grabber and John Hawkes (American Gangster, Deadwood) prolly gives the best performance of his life.  Miranda July is the director as well as a leading actress.  A synopsis is hard to pinpoint.... but several people together by family or random acquaintances are searching for something through romance, family and youthful sexual experimentation.... Brought together by remarkable dialog and eccentric color tones, July gave the film a dark comedic feel with a Picasso touch.  I strongly recommend this movie to everyone.  Enjoy!
