Current Contest (Effective December 1, 2008):
Our monthly contest until further notice will be a content related contest. We want people to join to participate and enjoy themselves. We hope all of our members will continue to recruit new members, so you can have fun with them on Medical Mingle.
This contest will be a jack-of-all-trades contest.
To be eligible to participate, you must do one of the following over the course of the month:
Either:
a. You need to receive recognition in our Daily Yellow Shirt Challenge. To accomplish this, your picture/Avatar must be appearing in our forum section when I wake up in the morning (at least 1 day during the month).
b. You must post at least 1 picture, video, or blog post during the month.
We will update the list of all eligible members throughout the month.
You will receive points towards the contest as follows.
1. If your profile contains a real picture of you, and not an Avatar, you'll receive 1 point.
2. If in my opinion, your profile has been filled out with lots of detail, you'll receive 1 point. I will check this at the end of the month. See mine as an example: http://www.medicalmingle.com/kenjlev021858
3. If you have posted pictures to Medical Mingle, you will receive 1 point. I will check this at the end of the month.
4. If you have posted videos to Medical Mingle, you'll receive 1 point. I will check this at the end of the month.
5. If you have posted at least one blog post during the month of the contest, you'll receive 1 point. I will check this at the end of the month.
6. If you have made any friends on Medical Mingle aside from me, you'll receive 1 point. I will check this at the end of the month.
7. If you are a member of any groups on Medical Mingle, you'll receive 1 point. I will check this at the end of the month.
8. I will also offer the ability to earn bonus points at least once a week. This will be based on one day content contests. For example, I might offer a bonus point to anyone who posts a blog post on a particular Sunday. You are only eligible to receive bonus points once you've qualified for the monthly contest.
If you need any help with doing any of the things above, simply let me know.
The member with the most points will win, and will receive a $500 gift certificate from GiftCertificates.com, and your picture will be displayed on our home page.
The member with the second highest number of points will receive a $250 gift certificate from GiftCertificates.com, and your picture will be displayed on our home page.
If there is a tie for for the most number of points based on the criteria above, the winner will be chosen as follows:
We will have a drawing.
Let's say we have 2 members with 7 points, then each of those members will get 7 entries.
On top of that, the members that have the highest number of cumulative contributions in the following categories will get 1 bonus entry:
Blog Posts
Forum Posts
Friends
Pictures
Videos
Therefore, let's say as an example that Andy and Marti each receive 7 points (for the 7 standard items in the contest), and they are the only members who have attained this.
On top of that, Andy has the most blog posts and forum posts, and Marti has the most friends, pictures, and videos, Andy would receive 2 bonus entries (for a total of 9 entries) and Marti would receive 3 bonus entries (for a total of 10 entries). This gives Marti slightly higher odds to win, but both have the opportunity to be chosen as the winner. My wife Robin will blindly pick the winner out of a hat.
Final Contest Results For December
There were 3 members who attained 7 bonus points, as well as 7 points for the 7 items that you were eligible to win points for. They were:

Andy received 1 bonus points for having the most photos.
Marti received 1 bonus point for having the most forum posts
Mr. Bubble received 3 bonus points for having the most friends, blogs, and videos.
Therefore, in our tie breaker drawing, Andy and Marti had 15 entires, and Mr. Bubble had 17 entries.
For the tie breaker, my wife picked the winner and runner up from a hat this morning.

The runner up in our December contest is Mr. Bubble, and wins a $250 gift certificate from GiftCertificates.com
