Fun Ways to Make a 12-Hour Shift Easier

Tuesday, September 30, 2008, 01:12 PM EST [General]

For some medical professionals, a 12-hour shift can mean tired eyes, feet, and backs. Here are a couple of neat ideas to keep you refreshed and energized.

Change your socks on your break halfway through your shift, or use some energizing lotion on your feet. This will give tired feet a refreshed feeling.

Brush your teeth after you eat your lunch. A minty-clean mouth can make you feel more like smiling.

You can find heat wraps now that fit many areas of the body and provide temporary relief for sore muscles.

Use eye drops if you wear contacts or to give dry, tired eyes a wake-up call.

Keeping an arsenal of funny jokes to tell your patients and co-workers can give everyone's spirits a lift.

What helps you stay happy and energized during a long shift? We would love to hear it!

Tuesday, September 23, 2008, 03:04 PM EST [General]

It's hard to believe, but it is almost time for the holidays once again. We would like to hear from medical professionals about what they would like to receive for holiday bonuses. What pay do you think is fair for working on a holiday? What other types of gifts would you like in addition to holiday pay? What bonuses would you like to receive if you choose not to work on a holiday? What were some of your favorite or least favorite gifts? We are anxious to hear your opinions. Thanks!

    Cancer Awareness in September

Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 12:13 PM EST [General]

Today it is a rare family that has not been touched by cancer. In September many events are scheduled to increase awareness and help fund the fight for cures for many forms of the disease. September serves as National Awareness Month for Ovarian, Childhood, Gynecologic, and Prostate Cancer, as well as Leukemia and Lymphoma. Today, September 16th, is also Take a Loved One for a Check-Up Day. This month presents many great opportunities for us to remember and honor our loved ones who have been diagnosed with cancer, and to add our strength to the fight for a cure.
