    I did it.....

I graduated last week with BSN from UMDNJ...soooo I thought I would share my experience with other healthcare professsionals.  Not sure anyone even reads on this site.  I survived septic shock and ARDS...so when I tell my patient I understand I truly do!  On a ventilator for a week, ICU for 2 weeks a total of 17 days in the hospital....While on ventilator I could hear what was going on even though I was heavily sedated, would come in and out of it...lovenox stings like a bitch....ABGs are horrific...ask patients if they have earaches when on a ventilator..  I had  bad earaches in both ears and it took a day  before someone realized I was in terrible pain...My NURSES and doctors where amazing!  I know what it is to be critically ill and how important it was to me to have people touch and talk to me...

Congrats Dawn I am happy for you. I thought I would never graduate but I did. Great job and thanks for sharing your personal story. I am a cancer survivor so I to know how horrible it is to be seriously ill. It helps to share your experiences with others so they know they are not alone or someone else has gone through it as well. I know I felt better talking to others who had the same cancer as I did. I still talk to them now just for piece of mind Be blessed and do well in all you do.

Great job Dawn. I graduated May 4 with my BSN. Thank you so much for sharing your personal experience. It was very touching and I will remember all of this when I take care of my patients. I wish you the best of luck and God Bless You!

Yes, some of us do read here. I'm glad you overcame your medical issues. I agree that having that experience will most likely make you a better nurse. Thanks for sharing!
