Some new funding will help to save many San Antonio medical jobs.
Hospice Partners of Texas recently received $3.3 million in financing from Advantage Capital Partners through the Texas Certified Capital Company program. The funding will allow Hospice Partners to acquire Alamo Hospice and keep several jobs in the San Antonio area.
Alamo Hospice currently has 70 full-time and 12 part-time employees. That number should increase in the near future, as Hospice Partners has plans to expand Alamo Hospice and add additional jobs.
"Advantage Capital is pleased to support Hospice Partners in their effort to provide caring, quality hospice services to terminally ill patients in Texas," Les Alexander, senior vice president of Advantage Capital, said. "This Texas CAPCO program funding will enable Alamo to retain good jobs in San Antonio, with additional growth expected as the company expands and offers hospice care to more patients."
Alamo Hospice provides services to terminally ill patients with cancer, AIDS, emphysema, heart failure, and other life-limiting illnesses. Hospice, which allows patients to receive care in their own homes instead of in the hospital, focuses on making sure that patients are comfortable at the end of their life.
"The hospice industry is currently experiencing tremendous growth due to many factors, including an aging baby boomer population; increased acceptance of hospice care by physicians, patients and their families; higher usage rates; and pressure to move toward more cost-effective care," Alamo Hospice CEO Gary Merchant said.
