The growing need for-senior centric medical care is helping to create Phoenix nurse jobs.
Construction on Asante of Mesa, a $15 million senior-focused transitional rehabilitation center slated to open in the summer of 2011, has begun. This is the first of four Valley projects planned by Santé Partners, an Oregon-based healthcare real-estate development firm.
"We selected this site due to its proximity to the ... expanding health care district in the immediate area and excellent proximity to U.S. 60 to serve primary discharge hospitals and the Mesa/Gilbert community," Scott Mickeleit, co-founder of Santé Partners, told The Arizona Republic.
Copper Sands Inc., a local senior healthcare management company that will oversee the center's operations, said the project will create 80 to 90 healthcare jobs. The company further said the new facility is an important milestone for the City of Mesa's growing senior population.
Asante of Mesa will offer patients at area hospitals a skilled nursing rehabilitation in which to further recover before going home. The 48,000-square-foot facility will feature 70 beds, private rooms with kitchenettes, a therapy gym, private physical therapy and massage rooms, a full-service restaurant-style dining area, outdoor therapy areas, and a healing garden.
Santé Partners is planning to build three other similar facilities around the valley, including locations in Scottsdale, Surprise and Chandler. These developments, along with two other rehabilitation centers constructed in recent years, highlight the needs of Phoenix's growing senior community.
