I am worn out today.  Stayed up too late last night, and my finger is throbbing.  Boo Hoo

    Injury!

Monday, June 29, 2009, 10:15 PM EST [General]

I sliced the tip of my right pointer finger off last Wednesday.  It was painful, still is.  I was at work cleaning a surgical pack after a spay.  The doctor is bad about not taking his own sharps off and throwing them out.  So needless to say, I was using a hemastat to pull the surgical blade off the blade holder and the hemastat slipped and sliced the tip clean off my finger.  At first I thought I just cut it, but when I put my finger under the water, because it was gushing blood, that is when I saw the tip missing.  I bandaged it up and a couple minutes later another nurse came in and said, "hey Monique, here's your finger."  It was in the sink.  I went to Urgent Treatment Center and they numbed it with topical lidocaine first and then they injected me with lidocaine.  They gave me a tetnus shot which I had an allergic reaction to.  My arm turned red and swelled up.  My finger still hurts like the dickens.  Today it felt like someone was holding a lighter to it.  It is really gross looking!
